In the summer of 1988, I had the pleasure of working on The Return Of
Swamp Thing
.  A campy sequel to Wes Craven's 1982 original, the film
starred Heather Locklear and had both Dick Durock and Louis Jourdan
reprising their roles from the original.

People always ask "What was it like working with Heather?"  I was
eight.  I didn't care.  People SHOULD ask "What was it like working with
seven foot tall monsters?"  That interested me!  It should be noted that
Dick Durock and Chris Doyle (The Leech) were both incredibly patient
and answered every question I had.  ("How do you pee in there?")

Working with Jim Wynorski was a blast.  He had somewhat of a
hard-nosed reputation.  I think he just knew what he wanted and wasn't
afraid to hurt some feelings to get it.  Nevertheless, if a movie set is
war, Mr. Jim is a ruthless general.

I hope you enjoy some of the photos I have from that time.
This is how my school greeted the news of my good fortune.

Being Swamp Thing did require a lot of time in the swamp.
Swampy scolds me for littering.
Why do I look confused?  And why is my shirt so ugly?
Heather Locklear was such an incredibly sweet person!

Mr. Jim is like the awesome, titty-obsessed uncle I never had.

It's like a bayou family portrait!
Seeing Swampy with his arm around the Leech is just wrong.
It's the magic of movie-making!
